Shai Konstantin joins Hapoel Rishon LeZion

Hapoel Rishon LeZion officially announced on Sunday morning that defender Shai Konstantin has signed with the club, after previously playing for Hapoel Kfar Shalem and earlier in his career for Beitar Jerusalem. The move keeps him in the Liga Leumit, Israel's second division. The signing had been reported earlier by Sport 5.

Konstantin, regarded as a high-profile player in the division, joins a squad that has also added Shahar Amsalem, Uri Tzadon and Ronen Peretz. This season he scored three goals in 20 league appearances.

Rishon LeZion is also trying to land central defender Ben Veheba, described as one of the league's best at the position. At this stage, the battle for his signature is between Bnei Yehuda and the team from the City of Wine, with Veheba expected to make the final decision. The club has reportedly made him a very attractive offer.

The club had also tried to overcome the fact that Ran Aturi had already reached an initial agreement, but he ultimately signed with Ashdod, as Sport 5 reported. On the departures side, veteran center-back Roy Zrahan, one of the team's standout defenders in recent years, is looking for a club abroad and may leave if he finds one.
