Shai Konstantin Set for New Club in Israel's National League
Defender Shai Konstantin, who previously played for Beitar Jerusalem and spent this season with Hapoel Kfar Shalem, is set to stay in Israel's second division. Sports channel 5 reported that he has reached an agreement with Maccabi Rishon LeZion, one of the teams expected to contend for promotion next season.
Konstantin, a high-profile player in the National League, is joining a squad that has already added Shahar Amsalem, Uri Tzadon and Ronen Peretz. This season he scored three goals in 20 league appearances.
The report also says the next major battle in the market, expected early next week, is over center back Ben Veheba. At this stage, Bnei Yehuda and Rishon LeZion are competing for his signature, and he will have to decide between them.
Rishon LeZion has presented Veheba with what is described as a particularly attractive offer. The club is also trying to recover after defender Ron Veturi had reportedly agreed in principle to join them, only to ultimately sign with Ashdod, as previously reported by Sports channel 5.
