Beitar Jerusalem Plans Tactical Changes After 2-1 Loss to Austria Vienna Ahead of Return Leg

Beitar Jerusalem returned to Israel on Friday morning feeling disappointed after their 2-1 defeat to Austria Vienna in the first leg of their European qualifier. The team acknowledged Austria Vienna as a stronger opponent compared to AEK Larnaca, whom they had previously defeated. Despite taking an early lead, Beitar hoped to at least maintain a balanced scoreline to boost confidence ahead of next week's away match in Vienna.

During the first half, Beitar controlled the game and dictated the pace, but fatigue in the second half led to unforced errors. Coach Almog Cohen plans to implement a more attacking formation in the upcoming second leg to try and score an early goal and put pressure on the Austrian side. Midfielder Gil Cohen, who was injured and substituted in the 56th minute due to a muscle strain, will remain in Israel for treatment. Luka Gadrani, who replaced him, is expected to start the next match, with Tomer Yosefi, Junebosco Calu, and Eugene Ansah also set for increased playing time.

Beitar expressed frustration that Austria Vienna refused their request for more than 1,250 tickets for the away fans, citing regulations. Despite the odds, Beitar remains optimistic, recalling that many doubted their ability to overcome Larnaca as well. The club is determined not to give up and aims to overturn the deficit in Vienna.
