Beitar Jerusalem Loses 2-1 to Austria Vienna in Conference League Qualifier First Leg

Beitar Jerusalem suffered a 2-1 defeat against Austria Vienna in the first leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League on Thursday. The match took place in Romania, where about 1,200 Beitar fans supported the team. Beitar took an early lead in the 19th minute through Noam Motzhe, who scored after a good pass from Shon Weissman. Despite dominating the first half, Beitar's performance declined in the second half, allowing Austria Vienna to stage a comeback.

Austria Vienna equalized and then took the lead in the 70th minute with a goal from the young player Salic, who scored after outmaneuvering Beitar's defense. Beitar had several chances to equalize, including a near miss by Omer Atzili and a header by Yarden Cohen, but failed to convert. The match also featured the debut of Tomer Yosefi for Beitar Jerusalem in the 82nd minute.

Coach Almog Cohen fielded a strong Israeli attacking trio of Weissman, Shua, and Atzili for the first time this season. Despite the loss, Beitar Jerusalem will look to overturn the deficit in the second leg next week in Vienna. Austria Vienna's victory gives them a significant advantage heading into the return match.

The defeat was disappointing for Beitar, who controlled much of the first half but were punished for their defensive lapses after the break. Injuries also affected the team, with Gil Cohen being replaced by Luka Gadrani during the match.
