Seven-Month-Old Baby Dies After Choking on Plastic Bag in Bnei Brak Home

A tragic incident occurred Thursday evening in Bnei Brak when a seven-month-old baby choked on a plastic bag at home and was rushed to Sheba Medical Center in critical condition. Emergency responders arrived promptly after receiving a call at 21:22 from Magen David Adom's Dan district dispatch, finding the infant unconscious, without pulse or breathing. Rescue organization volunteers and paramedics performed advanced resuscitation efforts, including defibrillation, chest compressions, ventilation, and medication administration.

Despite continuous life-saving attempts during transport and at Sheba Hospital, medical staff were forced to declare the infant's death. The rescue teams involved included chairman Oshy Shlomovitz, deputy director Chaim Bergman, and paramedics Daniel Horberg and Shabtai Ortner. MDA emergency medic Shimon Kalpner described the scene as extremely difficult, emphasizing the critical condition upon arrival.

This heartbreaking event adds to a recent series of dangerous choking incidents involving infants and young children in Israel. Just last Saturday, a two-year-old choked on a pepper in Bnei Brak, and a three-month-old girl died in Safed after losing consciousness weeks earlier. The grieving family is currently receiving support from medical and social services. The community mourns the loss of the infant, with condolences extended to the family.
