Former Deputy Minister Yoav Segalovich Resigns from Yesh Atid Amid Talks with Ra'am

Yoav Segalovich, former Deputy Minister of Public Security and retired police commissioner, announced his resignation from the Yesh Atid party and the Knesset on Thursday after serving since 2019. In his official statement, Segalovich expressed gratitude to Yair Lapid, fellow Knesset members, and party activists for their partnership and trust, wishing success to Yesh Atid and the Together party in their continued work for Israeli citizens.

Yair Lapid, leader of Yesh Atid and opposition head, praised Segalovich for his integrity and professionalism, highlighting their joint efforts to combat crime during the change government. Lapid thanked him for his contributions and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Segalovich's departure comes amid reports of advanced negotiations and a preliminary agreement with Mansour Abbas, leader of the Ra'am party. According to these reports, Segalovich is expected to secure the second spot on Ra'am's list for the 26th Knesset, a key condition for his placement among the top three candidates. The official announcement is anticipated after Ra'am's primaries conclude on August 22.

However, sources close to Segalovich emphasize that no final agreement has been signed yet regarding his joining Ra'am or any other political framework, as he continues to consider his political path. His decision to resign from the Knesset mandate given by Yesh Atid is described as a principled move while seeking a new political direction. The resignation was coordinated amicably with Lapid, who fully supported the transition.
