Israeli Security Proposes New City for Anti-Hamas Militias in Gaza Strip

As the Peace Council framework advances, Israeli security agencies are preparing for the future of Palestinian militias currently operating in the Gaza Strip under Israel's tacit approval. These militias actively target Hamas infrastructure, including searching for tunnels, weapons, and terror cells. However, Israeli security officials recognize that following expected changes in Gaza, especially if the IDF withdraws beyond the yellow line after Hamas disarms, these militia members will be unable to return to normal life within Gaza.

According to Kan News, the Shin Bet has proposed relocating these militia members to a new city called "New Rafah," which will be constructed by the United Arab Emirates and secured by a multinational force. This city is intended to be a Hamas-free zone, with Israeli security vetting all prospective residents. The proposal has been presented to representatives of the Peace Council.

An Israeli official commented that the first residents of New Rafah should be those opposing Hamas, emphasizing that this aligns with Israel's strategic interests. This plan reflects ongoing efforts to reshape Gaza's security landscape in coordination with regional partners and international forces.
