Israeli Health Ministry Warns Against Hair Care Products Containing Carcinogenic Formaldehyde

Following a regulatory inspection of the "Hair Straightening Center" chain and a prior announcement on July 9, the Israeli Ministry of Health has issued a public warning about additional hair care products found at the chain's outlets. Laboratory tests revealed that several hair care items, including shampoos and hair straightening products, are not registered with the Ministry and are therefore banned from sale. Among these are PROTEIN + MINERAL PREMIUM HAIR STRAIGHTENING and Protein mineral premium pre treatment shampoo.

Another product, HYDRO KERATIN PRO HAIR STRAIGHTENING GEL, was found to contain glyoxylic acid, a substance prohibited in hair straightening cosmetics in Israel due to its link to severe side effects such as kidney failure. Further investigation showed that some products found during the inspection, including Revival Riginol PRO and Revival Straight, were not manufactured by the registered producer 'Taltal,' raising concerns about their origin, composition, and safety.

Additionally, other unlabelled or improperly labelled hair straightening products were found to contain formaldehyde, a carcinogen banned in cosmetics. The Ministry cautions against purchasing hair straightening products from unauthorized or unknown sources and warns that misuse or use of unlabelled products poses significant health risks.

The Ministry of Health is continuing its investigation in cooperation with local authorities and enforcement agencies and will take all necessary measures to protect public health. Further updates will be provided as needed.
