Israeli Health Ministry Warns Against Use of Unregistered Hair Products Containing Carcinogens

The Israeli Ministry of Health issued a public warning against the use of several hair products found in branches of the "Hair Straightening Center" chain. This alert follows laboratory tests conducted on products seized during an inspection operation across nine of the chain's locations. The ministry identified products such as PROTEIN + MINERAL PREMIUM HAIR STRAIGHTENING and Protein Mineral Premium Pre Treatment Shampoo as unregistered in the ministry's database, making their sale illegal.

Additionally, the product HYDRO KERATIN PRO HAIR STRAIGHTENING GEL was found to contain glyoxylic acid, a substance banned in hair straightening cosmetics in Israel due to its association with severe side effects, including kidney failure. The ministry also noted that products labeled Revival Riginol PRO and Revival Straight were not manufactured by the registered producer "Taltal," raising concerns about their origin, composition, and safety.

Further tests revealed the presence of formaldehyde, a carcinogenic substance prohibited in cosmetics, in other hair straightening products that lacked proper labeling or were unlabeled. The Ministry of Health urged the public to avoid purchasing hair straightening products from unauthorized sources or using products without proper labeling. The ministry confirmed that inspections and testing are ongoing in cooperation with local authorities and enforcement agencies.
