Maccabi Tel Aviv's Shahar Rozen Steps Up as Roy Revivo's Replacement

Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing to part ways with left-back Roy Revivo, who has attracted interest from several clubs. As Revivo remains sidelined and out of the lineup, the club is seeking alternatives for the left-back position. The promising candidate to fill this role is 23-year-old Shahar Rozen, who will have the opportunity to prove himself in the upcoming match against CSKA Sofia under coach Kenny Miller.

Born on September 29, 2002, in Tel Aviv, Rozen is the grandson of Maccabi Tel Aviv legend Tzvika Rozen, who made 354 appearances and won 10 titles with the club. Initially recognized as a talented player in his age group, Rozen started his youth career at Maccabi North and transitioned from attacking roles to a defensive position over time.

Following Maccabi Tel Aviv's tradition, Rozen was loaned to several teams including Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam, Hapoel Kfar Saba, and Bnei Yehuda. He made his Israeli Premier League debut in the 2024/25 season with M.S. Ashdod against Beitar Jerusalem but was sent off after 20 minutes. Last summer, he was loaned to Hapoel Petah Tikva, coached by Omer Peretz, where he became a regular starter after initial appearances by Dror Nir.

Rozen has already made an impact this season, notably scoring a spectacular goal in the Champion of Champions match against Hapoel Be'er Sheva, although it was disallowed for offside. Now, he aims to establish himself on a bigger stage, stepping into the significant role left by Revivo's absence.
