Maccabi Tel Aviv's Shahar Rozen Steps Up as Roy Revivo's Replacement

Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing to move on from left-back Roy Revivo, who is reportedly attracting interest from several clubs and currently not playing for the team. In response, the club is turning to a promising internal option, 23-year-old Shahar Rozen, who will get a chance to prove himself under coach Kenny Miller. Rozen, born on September 29, 2002, in Tel Aviv, is the grandson of Maccabi legend Tzvika Rozen, who made 354 appearances and won 10 titles with the club.

Rozen began his youth career at Maccabi North and initially played in more advanced positions before transitioning to defense. Following Maccabi Tel Aviv's tradition, he was loaned out to several clubs including Beitar Tel Aviv Bat Yam, Hapoel Kfar Saba, and Bnei Yehuda. He made his Israeli Premier League debut in the 2024/25 season with M.S. Ashdod against Beitar Jerusalem but was sent off after 20 minutes.

Last summer, Rozen was loaned to Hapoel Petah Tikva under coach Omer Peretz. Although Dror Nir started as the preferred left-back, Rozen soon secured a regular spot in the defense. He made an impact this season, notably scoring a spectacular goal in the Champion of Champions match against Hapoel Be'er Sheva, which was disallowed for offside. Now, Rozen aims to establish himself on the main stage, stepping into the significant role left by Revivo.
