Israeli Police Arrest East Jerusalem Man for Threatening MK Tzvi Sukkot's Life

Israeli police arrested 25-year-old Tarzan Hammad from East Jerusalem on Thursday after he threatened to kill MK Tzvi Sukkot, chairman of the Knesset Education Committee. Hammad sent Sukkot messages on Facebook containing images of weapons and ammunition, along with a threatening note stating, "I always have a weapon, I travel without security checks, I will kill you when I see you." Following the threats, the Knesset and police conducted a security assessment and raised the threat level against Sukkot to level 4, increasing his security detail and tightening protective measures.

Sukkot's office indicated the threats followed his recent visits to Arab sector schools as part of his parliamentary work and his fight against extortion. Several threatening messages, including weapon images, were received. Sukkot praised the police for their swift action and emphasized that the threats would not deter him from his public duties. He highlighted the serious security risks posed by violence, crime, and illegal weapons in the Arab sector and vowed to continue combating these issues vigorously. "Anyone who thinks threats will silence me is mistaken," he declared.

The police are currently investigating the suspect and have taken testimony from Sukkot regarding the threats.
