Man Shot Dead in Tayibe a Year and a Half After Wife's Murder Amid Rising Crime

Ziad Bashara, a 57-year-old resident of Tira, was fatally shot in Tayibe on the evening of August 5, 2026. His death comes about a year and a half after his wife, Suzan Abd al-Qader Bashara, was also murdered by gunfire while sitting in her car in Tira. Police from the Sharon district arrived at the scene, began collecting evidence, and launched a manhunt for the suspects. Authorities indicated that the motive behind the killing is likely an ongoing blood feud.

Suzan Abd al-Qader, who was around 40 years old at the time of her death, had recently run for the Tira city council and appeared in a News 12 interview in August 2023. In that interview, she highlighted the escalating violence in Arab society, stating, "We wake up every morning to a new murder in Arab society. The numbers are only rising and the police are not addressing the crime."

The police continue their investigation into the shooting of Ziad Bashara, emphasizing the persistent issue of violent crime in the region and the apparent failure to curb it effectively.
