Ramiro Nuñez Joins Maccabi Tel Aviv Volleyball After Stint at Hapoel Mate Asher

Israeli-Argentine volleyball player Ramiro Nuñez, 33, has signed with Maccabi Tel Aviv for the 2026/27 season, marking his seventh season playing in Israel. Nuñez, known for his combative style and strong reception and defense skills, began his Israeli career in the 2019/20 season with M.S. Eilabun, where he played two seasons with a break in Argentina. He then spent one season with Ironi Kiryat Ata and three seasons with Hapoel Mate Asher/Akko before moving to Maccabi Tel Aviv, his fourth Israeli club.

Nuñez is Maccabi Tel Aviv's first signing for the outside hitter position this season and will join middle blockers Gandi Sokolov and Slava Batskhela, along with libero Omri Reutman, who will continue with the team. Upon signing, Nuñez expressed excitement about joining the club, emphasizing its strong tradition and his eagerness to contribute to the fans.

Maccabi Tel Aviv coach Gal Galili praised Nuñez as one of the standout Israeli players in recent years and highlighted his experience and versatile offensive and defensive skills. Galili expects Nuñez to be an important part of the team’s roster for the upcoming season.
