XPeng P7+ Electric Sedan Offers Spacious Design and Solid Range at Competitive Price
XPeng, a relatively young Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer known for innovative technologies including its flying car AeroHT, has introduced the P7+ model to the Israeli market. Priced at 199,990 shekels, the P7+ is XPeng's most affordable model in Israel yet features a large 5.07-meter-long sedan body that comfortably seats five and offers substantial cargo space. It competes with models like the Tesla Model 3 and BYD Seal but stands out with a longer, more elegant fastback design rather than a crossover style.
The P7+ is equipped with a single rear motor producing 313 horsepower and a 75 kWh battery, promising a manufacturer-rated range of up to 530 kilometers. Real-world testing showed a range between 400 and 450 kilometers depending on driving conditions, comparable to the base Tesla Model 3. The car supports fast charging up to 446 kW, though Israeli charging stations currently max out at 180 kW. The vehicle weighs 2,100 kilograms and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds, offering smooth and capable performance suitable for family use without excessive power.
Inside, the P7+ features a spacious, tech-forward cabin with high-quality materials, heated and ventilated seats with massage functions, and a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen. However, the heavy reliance on the multimedia screen for controls and the sunroof lacking shading were noted drawbacks. Rear visibility is limited due to the fastback design, compensated by a video rearview mirror. The car includes advanced safety features such as autonomous emergency braking, lane departure prevention, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and automatic lane changing.
The P7+ delivers a comfortable ride with well-tuned suspension and low aerodynamic drag (0.21 coefficient), contributing to its efficient energy consumption. While its size and length make it less maneuverable in tight urban spaces, it excels on highways and suburban roads. XPeng offers a 7-year or 160,000 km warranty on the vehicle and an 8-year warranty on the battery and motor.
