Lawyer Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling Drugs to Prisoner During Jail Visit

A lawyer was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to smuggle a substance believed to be drugs to a prisoner during a jail visit. The arrest was carried out by officers from the Shdot police station in the Central District, following an operational activity conducted in cooperation with the Israel Prison Service. According to the suspicion, the lawyer met with a prisoner she represents and tried to pass the suspected drug material to him during the visit. The substance was confiscated on the spot and sent for further examination as part of the ongoing investigation. The investigation is being jointly conducted by the Israel Prison Service's investigative division and the Shdot police station. After the investigation, the suspect was detained, and the police are expected to request an extension of her detention from the court on Wednesday to continue the investigation.
