Interior Designer Crafts Spacious New Home for Parents Near Her in Ramat Hasharon
Interior designer Michal Wolfson recently completed a comprehensive renovation of a large new apartment in Ramat Hasharon for her parents. The 200-square-meter apartment, with two additional balconies totaling about 110 square meters, was chosen for its proximity to Wolfson's own residence in a neighboring building. After renting it out for two years, the family undertook an eight-month extensive refurbishment. Sadly, Wolfson's father passed away during the renovation and never moved in, but his presence is deeply felt through cherished books, art, sentimental items, and family memories embedded throughout the home.
Wolfson designed the apartment to maximize storage and functionality, starting with a pink-hued entrance corridor featuring a large custom-built storage unit that conceals electrical systems and communication equipment. The living room storage unit integrates the air conditioning, television, and fireplace, blending closed cabinets in a sandy tone with open American walnut shelves and natural stone cladding. A large marble sphere, once a coffee table leg cherished by Wolfson's mother, was incorporated into a wooden bench.
The living area includes custom armchairs, a large light sofa with bamboo legs, and a glass coffee table with a light oak base complementing the pale rug. Adjacent is a spacious dining area with a natural marble table and walnut chairs, opening onto a balcony with abundant plants and a sea view. The kitchen features three parallel sections with a mix of American walnut and metallic-look cabinets, natural marble countertops, and a large island with a low dining table for casual seating.
A wide corridor opposite the kitchen houses a large wooden bookshelf filled with family books and memorabilia, culminating in a nostalgic display table made from a vintage Singer sewing machine base belonging to Wolfson's grandmother. The guest wing includes two bedrooms, one with bunk beds for grandchildren, and a home office originally intended for Wolfson's late father, now used by Wolfson herself.
The master bedroom, designed around the only furniture brought from the previous home, includes a large en-suite bathroom with a spacious shower and air conditioning, as well as a walk-in closet with a small makeup corner. Throughout the home, light colors and meticulous details, such as custom metal handles crafted by a welder, emphasize both comfort and character. Wolfson's mother now lives there alone and fosters family gatherings in the thoughtfully designed space.
