Interior Designer Transforms Standard Garden Apartment in Gan Yavne into Boutique-Style Home

In Gan Yavne, interior designer Hofit Suridrov revamped a standard five-room garden apartment into a warm, personalized home for a family of four. The 130-square-meter apartment with 180 square meters of outdoor space was redesigned almost from scratch to replace the typical white walls and generic kitchen common in new Israeli contractor apartments.

Suridrov introduced a large oak veneer carpentry wall at the entrance, which conceals storage and functional elements while integrating naturally with the home's architecture. The living area features a palette of cream, sand, and natural wood tones, complemented by a kitchen with matte graphite fronts, natural granite countertops with blue veins, a smoked glass display cabinet, and an oak wood island. The combination of stone, wood, glass, and metal creates a clean yet warm and luxurious atmosphere without ostentation.

A standout feature is the bathrooms, designed as tranquil spaces rather than merely functional rooms. They include large Italian slabs, built-in sinks, cream and natural wood cabinetry, and Italian faucets, evoking the ambiance of a boutique hotel or upscale spa. Private areas maintain the design language, with the master suite blending wood, glass, and metal, and dark herringbone flooring in the study and other areas adding depth without disrupting harmony.

Suridrov emphasized the challenge of giving the contractor apartment a unique character without flashy changes. She aimed to create a home based on natural materials, smart storage solutions, and a consistent design language throughout. The result demonstrates that a standard contractor apartment can gain presence and personality through precise planning, careful material selection, and attention to detail rather than extravagant elements.
