Haredi Soldier Seriously Injured in Weapon Mishap at IDF Base in Jordan Valley

A soldier from the Hachshmonaim Brigade was seriously injured on Tuesday evening by a gunshot wound during a dangerous game involving firearms at the brigade's base in the Jordan Valley. According to initial investigations, three soldiers were competing to see who could pull the trigger faster while handling a loaded weapon. One soldier inserted a magazine into the gun, continued the risky game, opened the bolt, and pulled the trigger, causing the bullet to hit the injured soldier. The wounded soldier was quickly evacuated to a hospital for treatment, and his family was notified.

The incident raises serious concerns about discipline and safety protocols within IDF bases. The Military Police have launched an investigation, and once completed, the findings will be forwarded to the Military Prosecution for further review. This event adds to a series of recent firearm-related accidents in the IDF, including a similar case two weeks prior where an 18-year-old was seriously injured in Azrikam when a fellow soldier accidentally discharged a weapon during play.
