IDF Soldier Seriously Wounded in Clash with Militants in South Lebanon Security Zone
An Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldier was seriously injured during an encounter with militants in the South Lebanon security zone, the IDF announced on Friday morning. The incident took place yesterday at 6:00 PM in the town of Bint Jbeil, located within the Israeli security zone approximately 4.5 kilometers from the Avivim settlement. Following the clash, an IDF tank fired at nearby buildings as part of a tactical operation to isolate the area and neutralize the militants.
This event follows a recent pattern of violence in the region. Last Friday, four soldiers from the Givati Brigade were moderately and lightly wounded during a confrontation with a Hezbollah militant who threw a grenade at their unit in the village of Beit Yahoun in southern Lebanon. Additionally, a week prior, retired sergeant major Basel Sweid, 32, from the village of Peki'in, was killed in a vehicle rollover near the village of Rab al-Taltin in southern Lebanon. Sweid was driving an Oshkosh truck, accompanied by a soldier who was moderately injured while securing the trip.
The ongoing tensions in the South Lebanon security zone have led to multiple injuries among IDF soldiers, including eight wounded by gunfire at a border outpost, five of them seriously. The IDF continues to conduct operations to maintain security and respond to militant threats in the area.
