Asuta and Microsoft Launch AI Personal Assistant for Israeli Doctors to Reduce Administrative Burden

In a pioneering move for Israel's healthcare system, Asuta Medical Centers and Microsoft have announced a strategic partnership to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into routine medical workflows. This collaboration will introduce a personal AI assistant designed to support doctors by summarizing medical information, aiding clinical decision-making, and handling routine administrative tasks such as scheduling follow-up appointments. The initiative aims to alleviate the administrative workload on physicians, enabling them to devote more time to patient care.

The AI assistant will serve solely as a decision-support tool, with medical responsibility and judgment remaining firmly with the doctors. Its implementation will be gradual, adhering to strict standards for data security, privacy, and protection of medical information. Alongside the AI assistant, the partnership includes transitioning Asuta's infrastructure to Microsoft's cloud platform, establishing an organizational framework to develop and manage additional AI agents across medical, service, and operational domains.

Microsoft Israel's Health Organizations Manager, Sarit Sass, emphasized that combining human medical expertise with AI capabilities will transform healthcare delivery by allowing clinicians to focus on patient treatment. Asuta's Head of Information Systems and Technology, Ofir Shani Haharvani, described the partnership as a significant milestone in responsibly embedding AI at the core of medical practice, prioritizing patient privacy and security. The overarching goal is to enhance healthcare quality by freeing physicians from administrative burdens to concentrate on patient care.
