Bar Asraf Found Dead Beside Girlfriend Liron Berda’s Grave Months After Nova Massacre

Bar Bekhor Asraf was found dead last week at the cemetery beside the grave of his close friend Liron Berda, who was murdered during the October 7 Nova party massacre. Just three days earlier, Bar had joyfully danced and celebrated at his brother Maor’s wedding. Family members described Bar and Liron as inseparable childhood friends from Shaarei Tikva, calling them "soulmates." Liron had stayed behind during the massacre to provide first aid to wounded partygoers before she was killed.

Bar’s sister, Lehi, recounted how Bar was deeply affected by Liron’s death, initially withdrawing from life but later returning to spread her memory through acts of kindness, such as organizing meals for soldiers and distributing aid packages. Their mother, Bracha Asraf, described Liron as Bar’s closest confidant and psychologist, noting that even nearly three years after the massacre, Bar’s grief remained profound. She recalled a recent moment when Bar broke down crying, expressing how much he missed Liron.

The family emphasized that Bar’s tragic death highlights the ongoing trauma experienced by those connected to the victims of the October 7 attack, including friends who were not physically present at Nova. They urged greater awareness of the mental health struggles faced by survivors and their loved ones. Bar is survived by his parents and four siblings, who remember him as a loving, caring individual dedicated to family and honoring Liron’s legacy.
