Jerusalem Launches Summer Campaign Offering Hotel Discounts and Digital Wallet for Attractions
Jerusalem is kicking off its summer season with a major campaign inviting families from across Israel to vacation in the capital during July and August. Families staying more than two nights in the city will receive a 20% discount at dozens of hotels and a digital wallet loaded with 100 shekels, usable at over 75 attractions. The digital wallet is available to all guests aged two and above, enabling access to a wide range of experiences.
Highlighted attractions include the nighttime sound and light show at the Tower of David Museum, featuring the classic 8:30 p.m. presentation and a newer show about King David at 9:30 p.m. Visitors can also enjoy rides on electric four-wheeled Easy Riders by Smart Tour, with routes starting at the First Station complex and passing landmarks like the King David Hotel and Jaffa Gate.
New family-friendly venues have opened, such as the "Arena Park" water park and the "Ice Box" ice skating rink in the Malha Sports Complex, both offering significant discounts for members of the "Jerusalemite" benefits club. The Auto Food Festival runs from July 27 to August 20 at the Armon Hanatziv promenade, featuring dishes from over 30 chefs and cultural performances including laser shows and concerts by artists like Alma Gov and Knesiyat Hasekhel.
Additional festivals include the 50th anniversary of "Hutzot HaYotzer" with top Israeli musicians, the Israel Festival honoring French tightrope walker Philippe Petit, and various cultural events across the city. Jerusalem will also host major sports competitions such as the Israeli Athletics Championship and the Jerusalem Skateboard Championship.
The campaign extends to neighborhood activities, cultural centers, and youth events, with the city continuing traditions like kite flying and camping in August. Among participating hotels is the Orient Jerusalem, offering a 20% room discount and featuring a rooftop restaurant with views of the Old City walls.
A new exhibition at the Israel Museum explores the stories behind shoes from ancient sandals to contemporary designs. Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion emphasized the city as "the place to be this summer," highlighting the diverse festivals, cultural events, and significant visitor benefits. The campaign is a joint initiative by the Jerusalem and Heritage Ministry, the Jerusalem Development Authority, and the Jerusalem Municipality, aiming to strengthen the capital as a family-friendly vacation destination.
