Jerusalem Launches Popular 'Camping in the Garden' Family Events for Summer 2026
The Jerusalem Municipality's Youth Authority is inviting local families to participate in the annual "Camping in the Garden" initiative this summer, offering a unique overnight camping experience right in their neighborhood parks. Scheduled for two weekends in August, the events will take place in various city parks including Lifshitz Garden, Shabshabet Garden, Danya Park, Kadurim Garden, Peace Garden, Ruppin Park, and Gonenim Park.
Participants will set up tents and enjoy a rich evening program featuring creative workshops, performances, storytelling, games, outdoor movie screenings, and other family-friendly activities. The next morning, a light breakfast will be provided to conclude the experience. The initiative has become a beloved summer tradition in Jerusalem, attracting hundreds of families annually from across the city.
Families must register in advance and pay a nominal fee, bringing their own tents and personal camping gear, while the municipality provides the rest. Special discounts and reserved spots are available for Jerusalem reserve duty families as a token of appreciation for their service.
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion emphasized the event's role in fostering community bonds and offering memorable experiences, stating, "Camping in the Garden is much more than sleeping in a tent; it connects families, neighbors, and communities and allows enjoying Jerusalem’s charm in a special way. We invite Jerusalem families to break from routine, spend quality time together under the open sky, and enjoy a fun, community-focused summer in the heart of the neighborhoods." Registration opens on Tuesday, July 21 at 8:00 PM.
