Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on August 3, 2026, that Serbian midfielder Christian Blitz successfully underwent surgery to stabilize a fractured metatarsal bone in his foot. The operation was performed by the club's medical team, including Dr. Dror Lindner, head of the sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery unit, alongside Dr. Amit Gilad and Dr. Najib Shaker. Blitz will begin rehabilitation under the supervision of the club's medical and physiological staff. The injury could sideline him for up to three months, potentially keeping him out of play until at least January. The club considered freezing Blitz's contract, which would allow them to sign an additional foreign player, but this would mean Blitz would not be able to participate in matches until the new year.
