Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on August 3, 2026, that Serbian midfielder Christian Blitz successfully underwent surgery to stabilize a fractured metatarsal bone in his injured foot. The operation was performed by the club's medical team, including Dr. Dror Lindner, head of the sports injuries and arthroscopic surgery unit, alongside Dr. Amit Gilad and Dr. Najib Shakar. Blitz, 25, will begin rehabilitation under the supervision of the club’s medical and physiological staff. The recovery period could sideline him for up to three months, potentially ruling him out until at least January. The club considered freezing Blitz’s contract, which would allow them to sign another foreign player, but this would mean Blitz could not play until the new year.
