IDF Finds Maps in Beaufort Ridge Tunnels Showing Threat to Northern Communities
Israel Defense Forces troops from the 36th Division are continuing to clear an underground tunnel network beneath the Beaufort Ridge, which the military says was planned and financed by Iran. In one of the underground routes, where terrorists who tried to escape were killed several days ago, soldiers found maps on the walls showing the area’s control over communities in northern Israel.
According to the IDF, the operation is aimed at destroying the tunnel network and achieving operational control over the area, which it says poses a threat to Israeli civilians. The military did not specify how many tunnels have been found or how extensive the network is, but said work to clear the site is ongoing.
