IDF Finds Tunnel Maps in Southern Lebanon as It Expands Operation Near Beaufort Ridge
Israeli military forces from Division 36 are expanding their clearing operation against an underground tunnel network beneath the Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, the tunnels were planned and financed by the Iranian terror regime.
In one of the subterranean routes, where militants who tried to flee were found and killed from the air a few days earlier, soldiers discovered maps on a wall showing control of the area around northern Israeli communities. The IDF said the material highlights the threat the tunnel system posed to civilians in northern Israel.
The army said it launched the operation to gain operational control of the area, which it describes as a threat to Israeli citizens, and to enable the destruction of the tunnel network. The operation is continuing.
