Nearly 100,000 Israelis Leave Country for At Least Three Months in 2025, Matching 2024 Record

A new study from Tel Aviv University reveals that over 90,000 Israelis left the country for periods of at least three months in 2025, nearly matching the record set in 2024. The research aims to provide earlier insights into migration trends by analyzing a shorter three-month window, as official data from the Central Bureau of Statistics is only finalized at the end of each year for the previous year. However, not all who left for three months are considered emigrants; approximately 55% are true migrants, while others may have traveled for extended vacations or study semesters abroad.

Comparing data from 2023 to 2025 with earlier periods shows a significant increase in the number of Israelis leaving for extended periods. Between 2023 and 2025, 268,930 Israelis left for at least three months, compared to 183,219 during 2013 to 2015. These figures suggest that 2025 may continue to see high emigration levels, though the exact numbers remain uncertain until official statistics are released later.

The study highlights a growing trend of Israelis spending extended time abroad, reflecting broader migration patterns that will be confirmed by the Central Bureau of Statistics in the future.
