Rabbi Aharon Elazar Turner, Author and Torah Scholar, Passes Away at 80 in Bnei Brak

Rabbi Aharon Elazar Turner, a respected Torah scholar and author from Bnei Brak, passed away at the age of 80. Born in the United States and later immigrating to Israel, he was the son of Rabbi Zelig and became a prominent figure in Bnei Brak’s religious community. Known as a survivor of American Jewry who transformed the challenges of his era into dedication to Torah study, he was among the first students of the 'Shas Project.'

Rabbi Turner was devoted to the teachings of the Ramchal, which he considered the joy of his life. He regularly prayed at the Lederman synagogue and authored significant works on Ramchal’s philosophy, including "Yitron HaOr" and "Yodei Shimcha." Additionally, he transcribed the writings of the kabbalist Rabbi Nissim Peretz, notably the book "Pardes Nissim." Colleagues describe him as a great Torah scholar, humble and devoted to God, who lived a life of simplicity, study, and kindness.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, many of whom continue in the path of Torah and mitzvot. His son, Rabbi Yerucham Turner, is a senior resident of Elad and serves as the gabbai of the "Shirat Naftali" synagogue. Rabbi Turner’s funeral took place on Sunday evening, the 20th of Menachem Av, starting from his home in Bnei Brak, proceeding through the "Beit Hashem" synagogue, and concluding at the Elad cemetery where he was laid to rest. The family is sitting shiva at his home in Bnei Brak. May his soul be bound in the bond of life.
