Russian Premier League Club Offers €1.5 Million for Hapoel Be'er Sheva's Abu Romi

Hapoel Be'er Sheva's winger, Mohammed Abu Romi, has attracted significant interest from abroad, with Russian Premier League newcomer Akron Tolyatti submitting an official offer to acquire the 22-year-old player. Akron, which recently earned promotion to Russia's top division, proposed a transfer fee of €1.5 million to Hapoel Be'er Sheva. However, the Israeli champions, led by owner Alona Barkat, have declined to sell Abu Romi at this stage, intending for him to remain with the club for the upcoming season.

The offer also included a lucrative salary package for Abu Romi, reportedly around €700,000 per season, a substantial increase from his current annual wage of €170,000. Abu Romi joined Hapoel Be'er Sheva in February 2026 from Ironi Kiryat Shmona for €400,000, signing a three-and-a-half-year contract without a release clause. In the previous season, he made 35 league appearances, scoring five goals and providing seven assists across all competitions. He contributed notably in the championship-winning campaign, including two assists in the top playoff and a goal in the State Cup final, which Be'er Sheva lost to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Akron Tolyatti, founded eight years ago, secured promotion to the Russian Premier League two years ago and finished 13th last season, narrowly avoiding relegation through playoff victories. The club has previously featured notable players such as Russian international Artem Dzyuba and currently includes Gilson Benchimol, who represented Cape Verde in the World Cup. Despite the attractive offer and salary, Hapoel Be'er Sheva remains firm on retaining Abu Romi for now.
