Firefighters Gain Control Over Jerusalem Hills Blaze Near Ksalon Village

Firefighters from the Jerusalem district have successfully gained control over a wildfire that broke out on Sunday in the Jerusalem Hills near the village of Ksalon. Approximately 30 firefighting teams, supported by six firefighting aircraft, responded to the incident. They continue to operate at two fire sites within the village area, conducting final extinguishing efforts, managing smoldering hotspots, and performing thorough inspections to prevent the fire from reigniting.

As of the latest update, the fire is under control with no damage reported to residential homes and no injuries known. Jerusalem District Commander Superintendent Shmulik Friedman, who arrived at the scene, credited the rapid response and coordinated efforts from ground and air units for halting the fire's spread and protecting residents' homes. He emphasized that final extinguishing operations will continue in the coming hours to ensure the fire is fully contained.

In response to the fire, the Israel Fire and Rescue Services issued a public warning urging people to act responsibly by avoiding lighting fires in open areas and forests, especially during heatwaves and windy conditions, to protect lives, property, and natural resources.
