Firefighters Gain Control Over Blaze Near Efrat Settlement in West Bank

Firefighters have fully contained a wildfire that broke out in an open area between the northern entrance of the Efrat settlement and the Al Hadar junction in the West Bank. The firefighting teams worked to confine the fire and prevent it from spreading toward Highway 60, a major transportation artery. During the operation, a portable agricultural structure caught fire, prompting firefighters to conduct a thorough search inside to ensure no individuals were trapped before completing the extinguishing efforts.

The firefighting operation took place under the protection of the Israel Defense Forces from the Etzion Brigade and police officers from the Etzion station. Lieutenant Colonel Lehi Ben Lulu, the shift commander, stated that the teams acted decisively under challenging terrain conditions to stop the fire from reaching the main road and succeeded in preventing harm to human life.

Authorities have warned of changing weather conditions in the coming days that could increase the risk of wildfires. Following a commissioner’s order, lighting fires in open areas remains prohibited until August 31, 2026. The Fire and Rescue Services recommend clearing dry grass around homes and urge the public to immediately call emergency number 102 if a fire is detected.
