Chery Launches Chinese Lepas SUV Brand in Israel with Three Models

Chery's Chinese automotive brand Lepas is officially entering the Israeli market through the importer Frisbee, which already distributes Chery vehicles locally. Lepas will be positioned as a premium offering alongside Chery's existing models, expanding the Chinese automaker's significant market presence in Israel, which also includes brands Umooda and JAC sold by another importer, Kamobile.

Lepas, a name derived from the words Leopard, Leap, and Passion, targets the European market with vehicles designed for enhanced cabin quality, chassis tuning, and comfort. The brand will focus on the SUV segment, offering small, compact, and large models equipped with advanced technology such as the LEX platform, safety systems, multimedia, and over-the-air updates.

The first model to be sold in Israel is the L8, a large SUV with five seats and a dynamic design, featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining a 1.5-liter turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor producing a total of 347 horsepower, with an 18.3 kWh battery providing an electric range of 90 kilometers. The compact L6 SUV offers both plug-in hybrid and full electric versions, the latter delivering 242 horsepower with a 67 kWh battery and a 430-kilometer range. The smallest model, the L4, is fully electric with 215 horsepower and a 65 kWh battery.
