Chinese Automaker Chery Launches Lepas SUV Lineup in Israel
Chery, the Chinese automotive giant, is officially introducing its Lepas brand to the Israeli market through the importer Frisbee, which already distributes Chery vehicles locally. Lepas will be positioned as a premium brand alongside Chery’s existing models, expanding the Chinese automaker’s significant market presence in Israel, which also includes brands like Omoda and JAC sold by Calmobile.
The Lepas brand name combines the words Leopard, Leap, and Passion, reflecting its dynamic and ambitious identity. Designed primarily for the European market, Lepas vehicles emphasize high-quality interiors, chassis tuning, and comfort to meet global standards. The brand will focus on the SUV segment, offering small, compact, and large models equipped with advanced technology platforms (LEX), safety systems, multimedia, and over-the-air updates.
The initial lineup includes three SUVs: the L8, a large plug-in hybrid SUV with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and electric motor producing 347 horsepower and an electric range of 90 kilometers; the L6, a compact SUV available in both plug-in hybrid and full electric versions, with the electric variant delivering 242 horsepower and a 430-kilometer range; and the L4, the smallest model, fully electric with 215 horsepower and a 65 kWh battery.
Chery’s Lepas brand is set to join the Israeli automotive market soon, with Frisbee preparing showrooms to showcase these new models. Further detailed reports and test drives are expected in the near future.
