Maccabi Tel Aviv Separates Henry Edu as Club Seeks New Team for Winger

Maccabi Tel Aviv is currently training Ghanaian winger Henry Edu separately from the main squad as the club looks for a new team for the 23-year-old player. Edu, who was signed two and a half years ago for around half a million euros, still holds a contract for the upcoming season but is not part of the club's plans.

Edu was included in Maccabi Tel Aviv's squad last season for a Champions League qualifier against Pafos but was subsequently loaned to Serbian club OFK Belgrade, where he made 16 appearances and scored two goals. Originally signed from Žilina as a promising young talent, Edu struggled to meet expectations. In his first full season (2024/25) with Maccabi, he played 28 games and scored three goals, including two in the Europa League qualifiers against Bačka Topola.

Currently, Maccabi Tel Aviv's roster includes eight foreign players, which prevents them from registering Edu unless another foreign player is released. Despite this, the club's main objective remains to find Edu a new club where he can continue his career.
