Jerusalem Bus Driver Assaulted by Youths Loses Four Teeth in Attack

A Superbus driver named M. was violently attacked by a group of youths while operating line 2 in Jerusalem on Saturday night. The incident occurred at the Eshkol-Ramot intersection when the driver stopped at a red light and the youths began hitting the bus's side panels. After opening the window, the driver was struck hard, losing consciousness for about two minutes, suffering facial injuries, and losing four teeth. Upon regaining consciousness, he heard the attackers continuing to threaten and curse him. He managed to drive away from the intersection, contacted the police, and was taken for medical treatment. The driver expressed shock and fear, stating he was unsure why he was targeted and worried about the potential danger if passengers had been on board during the attack.

Oti Cohen, head of the transportation division at Koach LaOvdim (Power to the Workers), condemned the escalating violence against public transport workers and praised the driver's quick thinking for preventing a worse outcome. Cohen criticized the limited security presence, noting only three mounted security guards are assigned to handle such incidents in Jerusalem. He called on the bus company management to cooperate by promptly providing footage of the assault to the police. The union is currently in a labor dispute focused on improving driver and passenger safety and refuses to compromise on these security issues.
