Bus Driver Severely Beaten by Teenager in Jerusalem Over Door Dispute

A 48-year-old bus driver was moderately injured and lost consciousness after being allegedly attacked by a 15-year-old minor on bus line 2 in Beit Shemesh. The incident began when the teenager demanded to exit the bus, but the driver refused to open the door for safety reasons, stating he could not endanger passengers. The suspect, a resident of Jerusalem, was arrested overnight by Beit Shemesh police.

According to the investigation, the confrontation escalated when the youth allegedly spat at the driver and then physically assaulted him. The driver reported that the attacker was holding a metal object during the assault, which led to him losing consciousness. He regained consciousness in the ambulance.

The driver, identified as 'Ayin', recounted that he heard the attacker shout to his friends, "I attacked him." He described the assault as more than just punches, noting the presence of a metal object. 'Ayin' stated, "This doesn't feel like a random incident, it felt planned and like a source of pride for him." He added, "I lost consciousness and only woke up in the ambulance," and vowed not to let the incident go unaddressed.

Police officers responded to the scene and initiated an investigation into the circumstances. Simultaneously, they searched for the suspect who fled the scene after the attack. The minor was located and apprehended during the night. He has been taken for questioning at the Beit Shemesh station, and authorities plan to bring him before a judge to request an extension of his remand.
