Hamas Distributes Weapons to Activists Under Civilian Cover Amid Gaza Agreement Talks

A Palestinian source informed Kan News that Hamas has recently begun distributing rifles to its activists in the Gaza Strip, aiming to keep weapons in their possession under the guise of personal civilian arms. The source emphasized, "Hamas will not disarm. Period." Concurrently, the Israeli Peace Council has voiced criticism regarding Israel's handling of the details in the agreement signed with Hamas. On Thursday, a diplomatic official reported opposition to certain terms included in the deal, while an Israeli source insisted that Hamas's full disarmament remains a precondition.

Despite Israel's stance, Peace Council officials stressed that Hamas is committed to the agreements reached, contrasting with public statements made by the group in the media. Kan 11 reported last night that the council expects the implementation of a 15-point document designed to end the Gaza war to begin within days. According to the agreement, Hamas must cease military activities, including reinforcement efforts, during the first two weeks, followed by the start of a weapons dismantling process.

Simultaneously, Israel is also required to halt hostilities in line with the agreement signed in October of the previous year. Sources indicate that Hamas has conveyed its approval of the document to the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey.
