Former Israeli Pilots Union Head Midan Bar Joins Yisrael Beiteinu and Pauses Interview for Party Briefing

Days after announcing his retirement as chairman of the Israeli Pilots Union and joining Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu party, retired Lt. Col. Midan Bar gave his first political interview. Bar appeared on the i24NEWS program "Mifgash Ktzavot" with Noa Drori, marking his initial foray into politics. During the interview, Bar expressed support for Lieberman as the suitable candidate to lead Israel's next government, emphasizing the country's need for an experienced leader.

Bar, who served seven years as the Pilots Union chairman, was questioned on various political and security issues but struggled to elaborate on his positions. At one point, he requested to pause the interview after receiving an urgent phone briefing from party members, temporarily halting the filming before resuming. Midan Bar, a resident of Hevel Sharon, is an El Al captain, lawyer, and volunteer police officer. He previously served as an Air Force helicopter pilot and currently works as a flight instructor.
