Turkish Man Arrested in UK for Allegedly Funding Hamas Under Humanitarian Cover
Mohammed Youssef Hasana, a 45-year-old resident of Istanbul, was arrested in the United Kingdom on suspicion of aiding Hamas by using a senior position in an organization that falsely presented itself as humanitarian. According to the US federal prosecution in Manhattan, Hasana collaborated closely with Hamas leadership to transfer funds, supplies, and food to the group under the guise of humanitarian aid. Authorities state that Hasana has been working with Razi Hamad, a senior Hamas official, since at least 2023.
Hasana remains in custody pending extradition proceedings to the United States, where he faces three charges: conspiracy to provide material support to Hamas, conspiracy to finance terrorism, and financing terrorism. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. If extradited, he will be tried in New York.
