Turkish Man Extradited to US for Allegedly Funding Hamas Through Fake Humanitarian Group

A 45-year-old Turkish citizen, Mohammed Youssef Hassaneh from Istanbul, was arrested last Friday in the United Kingdom on suspicion of playing a key role in a network funneling millions to the terrorist organization Hamas. The indictment alleges that Hassaneh exploited his senior position in a global humanitarian organization, described by prosecutors as a "shell" entity, to channel funds, food, and supplies to Hamas. According to the Associated Press, his detention has been extended pending extradition proceedings to the United States, where he is expected to face trial in New York. Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jamie McDonald stated that Hassaneh worked closely with senior Hamas leadership to disguise the transfers as humanitarian aid. In the U.S., Hamas is officially designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
