64-Year-Old Man Pulled Unconscious from Sea Near Atlit in Critical Condition

A 64-year-old man was rescued unconscious from the sea near Neve Yam beach, south of Atlit, on Saturday morning. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and found the man without pulse or breathing, performing basic resuscitation efforts. Paramedics Helena Makdad and Linoy Azulai provided advanced life support, including chest compressions, ventilation, and medication, before transporting him in critical condition to Rambam Hospital while continuing resuscitation attempts.

This incident follows a series of recent drownings along Israel's Mediterranean coast. Two weeks ago, a 45-year-old man drowned near Hadera's Fishermen's Beach despite resuscitation efforts. On the same day as the latest rescue, a 50-year-old woman was pulled from the water in critical condition at Bat Yam's Sela Beach. The day before, a 50-year-old man was also rescued in critical condition after drowning at Ashkelon beach.

Authorities warn that the Mediterranean Sea is currently rough and dangerous for swimming. They urge the public to swim only at designated beaches during lifeguard hours to prevent further tragedies.
