Satmar Rebbe Leads Special Torah Event in Kretshnir for Advanced Yeshiva Students

A unique Torah and unity event took place this week in Kretshnir, Hungary, where over 150 students from the new Satmar Kiryas Yeshiva concluded their European strengthening journey with special study sessions and a festive Siyum HaShas. The yeshiva, based in Monsey and founded earlier this year by the Satmar Rebbe (the Maharai), serves older students who graduated from the large Satmar Yeshiva in Queens. This initiative holds special significance for the Rebbe and is considered one of his most cherished projects.

The yeshiva currently enrolls more than 150 mature students dedicated to continuing their Torah studies in a framework suited to their age. The trip was led by Rabbi Yaakov Ber Teitelbaum, head of the yeshiva and Sighet Borough Av Beit Din, who accompanied the students throughout the journey. The highlight was their stop in Kretshnir, where they opened a temporary yeshiva in the restored synagogue of Rabbi Yeshayala of Kretshnir, a project nearing completion under the leadership of the tzaddik’s grandchildren from the "Rebbe Yeshayales Viz" family.

Following the study sessions, a Siyum HaShas ceremony was held at the Abraham Samuel Samet Hall, built through the generosity of Rabbi Yechezkel David Barkowitz, a Satmar Hasidic benefactor. The event also symbolized a heartfelt unity between different Satmar courts. On the night before the Siyum, the Toldos Aharon Rebbe visited the "Rebbe Yeshayales Viz" complex, spending several minutes by the wall displaying the tractates, expressing admiration for the new yeshiva’s scope and concept.

The next day, the Toldos Aharon Rebbe surprised attendees by joining the Siyum event, engaging in joyful dancing with the Satmar Rebbe’s son to the music of a large orchestra before hundreds of participants. This gathering in Kretshnir marked a significant moment of Torah dedication and communal harmony among Satmar Hasidim.
