Rafael's Spyder Air Defense System Successfully Intercepts Stealth UAVs in Latest Tests

Rafael has successfully completed a series of tests for its mobile Spyder air defense system in southern Israel. The system integrates Python 5 heat-seeking missiles and Derby radar-guided missiles to intercept various threats, including low radar signature unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), under challenging operational scenarios. The tests demonstrated precise and direct hits on these stealth drones, showcasing the system's enhanced capabilities.

The Spyder system converts Rafael's air-to-air missiles into a comprehensive air defense solution. It has been sold to India, the Czech Republic, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Georgia. Recently, Rafael secured a $2 billion deal with Romania, and Greece approved a purchase of Spyder alongside David's Sling and Barak MX systems in a combined $4 billion agreement.

Rafael continues to upgrade Spyder to meet evolving battlefield threats, incorporating lessons learned from recent conflicts in Israel and operational experience worldwide. Yoav Turgeman, Rafael's CEO, emphasized the company's leadership in combat-proven air defense systems like Iron Dome, David's Sling, and Spyder.
