Israeli Police Arrest Two for Extortion Attempts at Construction Site in Shitulim

Two young men in their 20s from Ramla were arrested by the Lachish Regional Unit (Yamr Lachish) on suspicion of attempting to extort protection money from a contractor in Nazareth. The incident occurred at a construction site in the moshav of Shitulim. When the suspects did not find the contractor at the site, they reportedly threatened his children who were present, using them to convey intimidating messages.

The police responded quickly after receiving the report, launching a focused operational activity that led to the suspects' prompt arrest. The suspects were taken in for questioning by Yamr Lachish investigators.

Superintendent Shahar Levi, commander of Yamr Lachish, emphasized the unit's zero-tolerance policy toward attempts to intimidate or extort business owners and entrepreneurs. He stated that the police will continue to use all available intelligence and operational means to quickly locate and prosecute offenders, ensuring public safety. Levi warned that anyone attempting to collect protection money or threaten citizens will face a determined police response.
