Three Tel Aviv residents indicted over alleged protection racket at construction sites
State prosecutors have filed an indictment against three men from Tel Aviv and the central region over an alleged extortion scheme targeting construction companies in Tel Aviv’s Pardes Daka neighborhood. The defendants are Mohammed Daka, 38, Ibrahim Al-Sayed, 43, and Kayed Daka, 36.
According to the indictment, the three established themselves as the dominant force in the area and intimidated contractors and developers. They allegedly forced major construction firms to hire them for security, earthworks and waste removal at inflated prices.
The companies named in the case include Danya Cebus, Tidhar, Forma and Ken Tor. Prosecutors said refusal to comply led to damage at construction sites, disruption of work and harm to equipment.
The indictment says the trio collected more than 7 million shekels in total between 2023 and 2026.
