A prosecutorial notice has been filed against three senior figures in a Tel Aviv crime organization, ahead of the filing of an indictment and a request to hold them in custody until the end of proceedings. According to suspicion, the three intimidated contractors, extorted by threats and forced large companies in the construction, infrastructure and security sectors to hire their services.
Crime, the fight against crime: A prosecutorial notice was filed yesterday, Wednesday, against three senior figures in the Daka crime organization. This comes ahead of the filing of an indictment and a request for detention until the end of proceedings, on serious offenses of extortion, protection racket collection and money laundering. The prosecutorial notice was filed at the end of an investigation conducted over the past few months. The investigation, carried out in cooperation with the Tax Authority, the Israel Money Laundering and Terror Financing Prohibition Authority, and with the guidance of the Economic Department of the State Attorney’s Office, focused on offenses committed in the Pardes Daka complex in Tel Aviv. Last month, with the transition from a covert to an open investigation, police forces launched a broad and coordinated arrest operation in Jaffa and southern Israel.
According to suspicion, those involved intimidated, extorted by threats and forced various services in the fields of construction, infrastructure and security on large contracting companies operating in the orchard complex, in order to control all the work. The illicit funds, amounting to millions of shekels, were allegedly laundered through shell companies that served as a cover for the criminal activity, while committing offenses against the tax authorities.
