Two Stand-Up Paddleboarders Rescued After Drifting Into Deep Sea at Kinneret

A dramatic rescue unfolded on Wednesday at the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) near the unregulated Shkamin Beach, where two stand-up paddleboarders were swept into deep water and found themselves in serious distress. The incident was reported to the Shkamin Beach manager, Tzvika Milstein, who immediately dispatched the beach lifeguard, Moshe Vazana, on a jet ski to search for the stranded paddlers.

Vazana located the two individuals over 600 meters from shore, exhausted but unharmed, and safely brought them back to land. Upon arrival, they received medical attention from the Cinbari-Shkamin beach team. The Kinneret Cities Association reiterated its warning to the public to swim only at designated beaches with organized rescue services.

The association also emphasized that afternoon winds at the Kinneret are particularly strong, advising against entering the water on flotation devices during these times due to the high risk of being swept into deep water. This incident highlights the dangers of water activities outside supervised areas and the importance of adhering to safety guidelines.
