Emergency crews launched a large-scale search on Tuesday evening for a stand-up paddleboard rider who disappeared about an hour earlier at one of the Sea of Galilee beaches, raising concern for his life. The alert was issued from the control room of the Kinneret Cities Association, which said security and rescue forces were responding to an emergency at the lake.
After the report came in, Israel Police officers and the association’s supervision and rescue teams were dispatched to the area. The forces are now conducting focused searches both on the water, using boats, and along the shoreline in an effort to locate the missing person as quickly as possible.
At the same time, the Kinneret Cities Association reiterated strict safety rules for swimmers and visitors. It warned that entering the lake after beach rescue services end is absolutely forbidden.
The association also cautioned against using flotation devices such as SUP boards and sea mattresses, saying they can be swept rapidly and easily into deeper water, especially in the afternoon and evening when winds in the area can suddenly intensify.
